Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple’s iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, has died. Apple said. Jobs was 56.
“We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today,” read a statement by Apple’s board of directors. “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.” To get the full story, click on Jobs’ image.
Steve Jobs, the mind behind the iPhone, iPad and other devices that turned Apple Inc. into one of the world’s most powerful companies, resigned as CEO on Wednesday, saying he can no longer handle the job but will continue to play a leadership role.
The move appears to be the result of an unspecified medical condition for which Jobs took a leave from his post in January. Apple’s chief operating officer, Tim Cook, was quickly named CEO of the company Jobs co-founded 35 years ago in his garage. See more at the reference below.
Man, Steve Jobs has done it again! I’m a recent Mac user, and since I have switched from PC, there’s no turning back; I never understood what the rave was about until I made the switch — no one has to convince me anymore… Matter at hand: Apple is expanding. In a city council meeting, Jobs stated that Apple is “growing like weed”. The current headquarters hold 2,800 employees; the new, four-story headquarters will house 9,500 more (theweek, 2011). One question he answered stuck out like a sore thumb to me though. When asked would he be willing to give the city free WiFi, he changed the subject pretty quick. I think the answer should have been “sure, it’s now on the agenda”. Free WiFi, in my opinion, will substantially boost the economy out there in cyber world —- the physical world also.
